Below are the policies by which I operate my piano studio. These simple guidelines are what keep it running smoothly and effectively and ensure that all my students receive the equal attention they deserve.

Semester and Monthly Payments:
Payment for lessons is to be paid on the first of the month, for the month ahead.

If preferred, you may make a payment of two or more months at a time.

Payment can be made by cash and e-transfer.

There is a $50 registration fee payable when registering or at the beginning of September. This goes towards the cost of materials such as games, photocopies including the printing of online music, various resources, challenges, rewards, recitals, other performance opportunities, and masterclasses.

The tuition that you pay reserves a place for you/your child in a weekly lesson. Therefore, there is no reduction in tuition for missed lessons.

Books and optional events such as festivals and examinations will be paid for by the student/parent.

Schedule:
Lessons are scheduled at a mutually agreed time when the student begins lessons, and at the commencement of each academic year thereafter.

Lessons scheduled on holidays such as Sunday’s and Monday’s will either be rescheduled prior to the lesson at a mutually convenient time or take place at the regular lesson time on the holiday.

If a student/parent wishes to change their lesson time mid-year this can be discussed on a case-by-case basis, however this is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

If a student is late this simply takes time out of the lesson, it will not impact the student whose lesson follows.

Missed Lessons:
If a student will be missing their lesson for any reason, I should be informed by text or email. I would appreciate at least 24 hours’ notice. If I have another time free that week (such as another student’s cancellation) I will offer it, although I cannot guarantee availability.

If for any reason I must cancel a lesson myself, I will offer a make-up lesson at a different time.

Online Lessons:
Why learn from home? Sometimes the distance from home to studio is too far to attend on a regular basis, or simply not possible. Finding a suitable teacher makes all the difference and finding one in close proximity can prove to be even more challenging.

Sometimes scheduling is difficult. Between work, school, and life, it can become so hectic trying to juggle activities and later day events. Battling bad weather and traffic does not need to be an issue.

Covid-19 and transitioning out of Covid Considerations:
Due to Covid-19 lessons have been moved to an online zoom format until further notice.

Requirements for transitioning back to in-studio lessons:
All members of household fully vaccinated.

One student in house at a time, no siblings waiting throughout lessons.

Arrive 5 minutes early to wash hands, wait on the bench in front hall if a lesson is still in progress.

Mask must be worn at all times.

Any symptoms whether related to covid or not require online lesson.

Pick up must be punctual.

Snack and drink prior to lesson. Set your child up for optimal focus and energy required for best learning experience. Low blood sugar and dehydration place anyone in a less than ideal learning position. Water bottles only are permitted.

On inclement weather days, online lessons will be given at the regularly scheduled time.

Online lessons will be given on days a student is feeling under the weather, but well enough for a lesson they might otherwise not attend.

In the event of another surge of Covid cases in-studio lessons will revert back to online lessons.
